If you have a local farm or other local food enterprise and are in need of a loan, Virginia Foodshed Capital may be able to help. Virginia Foodshed Capital is dedicated to supporting the financial needs in the local foodshed and building resiliency into the local food economy. Our mission is to provide equitable, patient, and risk-tolerant capital to small-to-mid scale local farmers and food enterprises dedicated to resilient, eco-friendly practices that produce healthy, delicious, nutritious food for our local communities.

If your farm or food enterprise fits this mission we invite you to fill out this online Borrower Information Form and someone will contact you very soon. The questions are designed to help us get to know you better without bogging you down in credit checks and exhaustive business plans. Throughout 2019 we will be continue to focus our lending mostly on existing farms; however, we will consider new farms and other food enterprises such as value-added producers or artisan foods on a limited basis.

Virginia Foodshed Capital loans money through what we call our SOIL Fund. This revolving fund is capitalized through charitable contributions form our financial supporters around the state. We use it to distribute 0% loans with 3-5 year paybacks. Since launching this fund in 2018 it has quickly become in high demand. If you are interested in this type of loan please apply as soon as possible and we will do our best to meet your needs. (Please note that due to high demand, we will need to keep most of our loans below $10,000 throughout 2019 so we can accommodate as many needs as possible until our fund grows larger.)

There are no fees to apply for a loan.

Please note that this form is seen only by the Virginia Foodshed Capital board members.
