Agrarian Trust
Vermont, Maine, and Virginia
0% interest bridge loan funded Oct. 2024
Founded in 2014, Agrarian Trust acquires and stewards land for regenerative agriculture, cultural reconnection, equity, and ecological restoration.
AT"s Agrarian Commons hold land in community "commons" entities and then offer affordable long-term land leases to regenerative producers, with a priority focus on equity. Each Agrarian Commons is supported in various ways by the national 501(c)(3) Agrarian Trust, including through fundraising, fiscal sponsorship, and technical assistance. Agrarian Trust has a robust schedule of land closings, infrastructure development, and legal support happening in support of the Commons in 2024 and 2025; these plans include finalizing the purchase of the Somali Bantu Community Associationʼs Liberation Farms in Maine, repair to Liberation Farmsʼ road and outbuilding infrastructure, and legal and professional support for Commons in VT, Central VA, and ME.
A 0% interest bridge loan from Foodshed Capital will provide AT the operational capital necessary to execute the above described real estate, infrastructure, and technical assistance activities while awaiting pledged major gift donations in 2025, and allow the Commons and associated regenerative farmers the resources, development, and lead time needed for a successful 2025.
