Moore's Produce is a fourth-generation family farm in Blounts Creek, NC. Kelton Moore farms the same land his great grandparents broke ground on over a century ago, producing mixed veggies for resale, wholesale, and food access work. Voted North Carolina's Farmer of the Year in 2016, Mr. Moore is a founding member of the local Black Farmer's Cooperative, where seasoned farmers mentor young producers, pool distribution resources, and share equipment. The crops produced on Moore's Produce's 25 acres are rotated seasonally, with cover crop applications each winter. A zero-interest loan from FoodCap will allow Moore's Produce to upgrade some old equipment, as well as provide operating capital as they expand their wholesale distribution in 2022 and 2023.
