Wild Fox Farm
Lane Barto, PA
Low-interest bridge loan funded March 2022
In Pennsylvania's Butter Valley, farm owners Ben and Karah Davies produce small-scale grains, diversified vegetables, meat, and eggs utilizing rotional grazing, cover cropping, and composting. Their mission is to feed their local community, with a "legacy goal" of bringing 1000 acres of the Butter Valley and its immediately surrounding agricultural region into regenerative agricultural management—preserving the long-term quality and viability of the community, ecological systems, and most importantly, its soil. Their low-interest loan will serve as bridge funding through the Pennsylvania Farm Vitality Planning Grant program, which helps enhance the long-term viability of Pennsylvania farms through sound business planning, efficient transitions of farm ownership, strategic farm expansion, and diversification of agricultural production. Wild Fox is working with our partners at Kitchen Table Consultants to prepare a strategic long-term plan for their farm, and building out an on-farm store to expand their retail sales. The loan funds will cover their up-front costs for the consultation and building materials, which will then be reimbursed by the state.
