Minimize Overwhelm, Maximize Return.png

Free Virtual Workshop

Tuesday, April 9th at 12-1pm ET

Wednesday, April 10th at 6-7pm ET

Two identical sessions presented by Foodshed Capital in collaboration with Andy Gilbert, a farmer, financial consultant with NY Farm Net, and expert farm tax preparer with decades of experience.

This workshop will help minimize the overwhelm that comes with filing farm business taxes. We'll get on the same page with all the tax lingo you need to know, familiarize you with the relevant paperwork, and walk you through action items that should take place throughout the year so you're ready to go at tax time. Come ready with questions - if we don't answer them as we go, we have time carved out at the end of the hour for you to fire away.

Topics include:

  • Common tax terms and definitions

  • Specific forms relevant to small-scale farm business returns

  • Documents you'll need to have ready

  • Seasonal to-do list

  • Different options for paying your tax liability

  • How to get back on track if you haven't filed past returns

Target Audience:

The workshop will best serve existing or early-stage diversified farmers, operating on a small scale, who have a working knowledge of business record keeping. We will not be going into depth on how to develop the financial reports you'll need to hand over to your tax preparer, but stay tuned for this content in future workshops.
